Prerequisites: Mandatory Items Before Leaving Camp
1x Makeshift Bandage
Crafted with 2x Cloth (Hand-Crafted)
The dog is bleeding from predator bites in the Bone Cave. You must apply this bandage during the first interaction to stem bleeding.
1x Raw Meat (Uncooked)
Harvested from Deer or Rabbit
Do NOT cook this meat! The dog requires raw fresh meat to establish predatory bonding and pack loyalty.
Bone Cave Walkthrough
- 1 Head Northeast (Bearing 045°): Leave your starter cabin and traverse along the frozen riverbed towards the jagged limestone ridge crowned by dead pines.
- 2 Listen for Whimpering at the Fissure: Within 80 meters of the ridge, Rook remarks on sounds from a narrow cave mouth partially blocked by stalagmites. Crouch or break ice to enter.
- 3 Treat and Feed (Press E Twice): Approach the growling animal slowly. Press E to apply the bandage. Press E again to offer the raw meat.
- 4 Name Your Dog & Receive the Whistle: Name your companion. The "Dog Days" quest completes, unlocking the Dog Whistle and permanent follow mode.
Canine Tactical Abilities
Threat Detection Radar (30m)
When hostile wolves, snow bears, or armed Moon Clan scouts approach within 30 meters, your dog assumes a rigid defensive posture and emits low guttural growls.
Scent Tracking (G Key)
Hold the G key to command 'Track Scent'. Your canine partner leads you directly along blood splatters to recover wounded animals, hidden survival crates, or lost gear.
Pack Mule Expansion
Craft and equip the Dog Saddle Bag (4 Treated Leather + 2 Buckles + 2 Rope) to grant +8 dedicated item slots and an extra 25kg carrying capacity for timber and scrap.
Combat Distraction
Direct your dog to bark and harass aggressive targets. This forces enemies to divert their aim away from you, enabling easy flanking shots and critical hits.
